Siberian Federal University: Siberia through the Eyes of Foreigners TV project

The innovative educational and production TV SibFU laboratory of the School of Philology and Language Communication has prepared a television project Siberia Through the Eyes of Foreigners for the air of the Krasnoyarsk Channel 7.

It was carried out within the framework of the Development of Media Content to Promote the Cultural, Historical and Scientific Potential of Yenisei Siberia grant of the Regional Science Foundation and was marked as the best student practical training by the Guild of Interethnic Journalism. The project team includes employees of TV SibFU, the Department of Journalism and Literary Studies, and bachelor and master students. Eight filmed episodes are the view of students from Japan, China, Colombia, Saudi Arabia, and Laos on Siberia’s life. The international students go to the homeland of writer Viktor Astafiev in Ovsyanka, to theatrical premieres, meet with the old-timers in the Northern Angara region, celebrate the New Year, prepare a fish pie and look for a dress for herring in the supermarket, talk about Yeniseisk, Krasnoyarsk and, of course, about the university where they study. The pilot episode of the project about the journey of Sebastian Sativa (Colombia) to Astafiev’s homeland took second place in the UNIVERSITY-2020, an all-Russian competition of student projects organized by the Independent Broadcasting Foundation, and took the Grand Prix at the Spas on the Yenisei-2020, a Russian interregional creative competition (correspondents: Alyona Mironets, Yekaterina Yudanova), and the episode “Yeniseisk through the Eyes of Ali Farid” (by Dmitry Romanko) received the largest number of votes in the ranking of the School of Interethnic Journalism All-Russian project.
