Siberian Federal University: SibFU educational programs for Belarusian applicants

Siberian Federal University presented its programs online at the 19th international specialized exhibition of educational services Education and Career, held from 18 to 20 February 2021 in Minsk.

For several years now, the Education and Career exhibition has been raising awareness among Belarusian applicants to obtain an education in different countries, including Russia. Universities, colleges, lyceums, institutes of further education, educational centers, foreign language schools presented their programs. Along with SibFU, Russian universities from 30 regions took part in the exhibition.

“For a year now, we have only been taking part in online events. During this time, we have accumulated experience, materials and worked out the formats of interaction with applicants, — said Anna Mezit, the head of the Department for International Cooperation, SibFU. — Within the framework of the exhibition, we managed to establish contacts with international departments of universities in Belarus, representatives of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Minsk, and representatives of the ministry. But the most important thing, as I hope, is that we managed to convey a persuasive message to the Belarusian applicants about our university, thus, inspiring them to apply to SibFU.

Not many Belarusian students study at SibFU now, but we would like to see more of them, as we have much to offer. A large number of quotas allocated by the Russian Federation government and the introduction of new admission rules give a chance to study in Russia for free” — summed up Anna Mezit.

In her speech at the Education and Career exhibition, Natalya Bocharova, the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia, said that this summer Belarusian applicants would be able to apply to Russian universities based on not only the Unified State Exam results, as it was before, but also centralized testing results. The new rules will apply to bachelor’s, specialist’s and master’s degree programs.
