Siberian Federal University: SibFU hosts Interethnic Friendship Festival
Siberian Federal University hosted Interethnic Friendship Festival and brought together more than 250 students from countries near and far abroad.
The festival participants were students from Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Thailand, Nigeria, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Morocco, Peru and other countries. The festival brought together students not only from Siberian Federal University, but also from other Krasnoyarsk universities, including Reshetnev Siberian State University, Krasnoyarsk State Medical University, Astafiev Krasnoyarsk State Pedagogical University, and Krasnoyarsk State Agrarian University.
The students took part in traditional folk competitions, including, for example, the Turkmen game Asak-Tauk, the Bashkir sack fight, the Slavic game To Pull Beech, and jumping over sledges — a traditional competition of northerners. Interactive sites were open for participation, while local dance and vocal groups performed throughout the day. During the break, everyone was treated to pilaf.
“The main concept of the event is to bring together representatives of different nationalities in one team in order to give impetus to the development of interethnic community among students of SibFU and other universities in Krasnoyarsk. Due to the pandemic, such events have not been held for almost three years, and the number of participants and guests of the festival this time showed how important and relevant all this for young people”, said Amirbek Alimov, the organizer of the Interethnic Friendship Festival, the chairman of the Navoi Uzbek Union of Students.
