Siberian Federal University: Winners of II International Financial Security Olympiad
As part of a business trip to the Sirius Federal Territory, Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, summed up the results of the II International Financial Security Olympiad. The Olympiad is held annually on behalf of Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, and Siberian Federal University acts as one of its organizers.
The participants plunged into real situations and worked out cases related to the problems of the banking and public administration industries. Students of Siberian Federal University are among winners and prize-winners:
The winner in the Economics, Finance and Credit, Economic Security nomination – Ivan Seleznev, student of School of Economics, Finance and Public Administration.
The prize-winners in the Economics, Finance and Credit, Economic Security nomination – Valeria Gromyko (School of Business Management) and Yan Yepritsky (School of Economics, Finance and Public Administration).
The prize-winner in the International Relations nomination – Alexandra Bolshanina (Law School).
Before the awarding ceremony of the winners, a meeting of the Organizing Committee of the Olympiad was held under the chairmanship of Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation. He noted that despite the current international situation, it was possible not only to maintain, but also to expand the level of organization and holding of the Olympiad. If last year more than 31 thousand schoolchildren and students from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan were registered to participate in it, then there are already more than 40 thousand people from 12 countries this year. Schoolchildren and students from Armenia, India, China, South Africa and Brazil joined the event.
“Financial security and cyber resilience are the basis of any country’s sovereignty. You know how vulnerable the financial and cyber system is if they are not protected. I am grateful for hosting the II International Financial Security Olympiad. We see that the number of participants has increased by 30 percent, including international coverage. This year, 26 schoolchildren and 72 students from 12 participating countries became winners and prize-winners. 80 representatives of Russia are among the best. I expect that in the future they will link their professional activities with the fight against cybercrime, fraud and pyramid schemes at the international level. They not only won, but also gained benefits for admission to the country’s leading universities and employment prospects. The government will continue to create conditions by increasing the information, financial and legal literacy of young people,” claimed Dmitry Chernyshenko.
Maksim Rumiantsev, SibFU rector, Chairman of the Appeals Commission of the Olympiad: “This year the Olympiad has reached a new level. The number of participants in the qualifying stages, which took place in federal districts, has increased significantly. For instance, in the Siberian Federal District, which SibFU was responsible for, the number of schoolchildren that took part in the Olympiad increased by almost 8 times, and students — by one and a half times. We managed to unite 16 Siberian universities on our own basis. I would like to note that the level of the participants’ knowledge has become noticeably higher. The Olympiad has increased its status – it has become a first-level Olympiad in the list of Russian Olympiads that record individual achievements of students. And now even more motivated schoolchildren and students are fighting for the winners’ places.”
The Olympiad has become more significant in terms of content. Its uniqueness is that it is interdisciplinary, and unites the Federal Financial Monitoring Service, corporate structures that are in need of professionals in financial security (economists, lawyers, IT specialists), as well as universities and schools.
