SibFU discusses the features of ethnic migration processes in Siberia
On November 26–28, 2020, Siberian Federal University hosted international scientific and practical conference “Specificity of Ethnic Migration Processes in Central Siberia in the 20–21 centuries: experience and prospects”. The Conference was held online and received a hundred leading foreign and Russian scientists, experts in the field of migration processes and national issues from Bulgaria, Kazakhstan and cities of Russia: Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The leading researchers of migration issues, including Konstantin Grigorichev, a well-known urbanist, vice-rector of the ISU, Leonid Savinov, dean of the Faculty of State and Municipal Administration of the Siberian University of Management (a branch of the RANEPA), and Victoria Ledenyova, director of the Centre for the Study of Migration Policy of the RANEPA, presented data on innovations in the field of public policy, new regulatory documents regulating the migration code and scientific research.
“Our partners gave unique talks, in particular, on the political future of migrants, on the dynamics of symbolic appropriation of urban spaces and the search for interaction practices in Irkutsk, on the processes of suburbanization and the emergence of new spaces in Siberian cities,” said the conference co-chair, professor of the SibFU’s School for the Humanities, Natalia Koptseva. “Experts from all over Russia take part in the round tables, as well as young scientists and students of SibFU are among the active participants. The conference ends with an expert seminar in the House of Friendship with the participation of representatives of nonprofit organizations working with various ethnic groups. The participants will share their practices and tell about challenges at work, and will also receive an expert opinion on what they do.”
The conference proceedings will be published in peer-reviewed journals included in the updated list of the Higher Attestation Commission.
The organizers of the event were the Public Relations Office of the Governor of Krasnoyarsk Territory, Siberian Federal University, the House of Friendship of the Peoples of Krasnoyarsk Territory, and the Research and Educational Society for Cultural Studies.
