Significant Improvement in performance of AMU students in qualifying GATE 2024

ALIGARH : A total of 24 students from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University have secured rank within Top 1000 in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) examination, 2024, marking a significant jump compared to the last year when only 9 students had secured rank among top 1000.

In order to celebrate this marked improvement and to appreciate the hard work behind this huge success, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology organized a felicitation event to encourage the successful students, who have set an example for other students who are preparing for the prestigious examination for the next year.

Prof. M. Salim Beg, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, stated that the GATE exam has now become an important milestone for Engineering professionals in our country and an important benchmark for them to get admission in PG courses at prestigious institutions like IITs, NITs, IIITs, IIMs, etc., and for getting jobs in public sector companies.

He pointed out that our engineering students have now begun to realize the importance of GATE exam and its usefulness, as an increasing number of students has been observed appearing and doing well in this examination.

On this occasion, AMU Registrar, Mr. Mohammad Imran (IPS) gave away the Letters of Appreciation, signed by the Dean Faculty of Engineering to all AMU students who secured a rank within the top 1000 in the GATE 2024.

Mr Imran stressed the importance of such events and how it can even be a turning point in one’s career. Relating his own experiences of appearing in competitive exams, he gave helpful suggestions to the students how to come out with flying colours.

It is worth mentioning and praising that some departments and teachers go out of the way and conduct lectures to coach the GATE aspirants. Some departments have established Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) Centre and several of them are preparing to start such centres to facilitate heightened preparation for their faculty members and students in their respective fields.

The award of 5G Lab to Department of Electronics Engineering, award of a huge National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations (NIDHI) project to two staff members of Faculty of Engineering and award of another R&D project related to sustainable development are examples of our stride towards attaining excellence, he added.

The Principal, Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology, Prof. M. M. Sufyan Beg urged the students to participate in larger numbers in this examination in coming years.

The Chairpersons, Coordinators and Directors of several departments of studies and centres, present on the occasion, expressed their views and gave suggestions how to further improve the overall performance in GATE exam.

The students thanked their teachers and mentors, and gave their feedback about preparation for the GATE.
