Sihor Taluka School wins Rural IT Quiz Gujarat State Finals

National Rural IT Quiz in Bangalore
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat State Finals of the Rural IT Quiz program conducted on 26th September 2017 at the Kadi Sarva Viswavidyalaya, Sector 15, Gandhinagar saw an overwhelming response with students and teachers from 33 districts of Gujarat participating in the unique program.
After a preliminary written round, six teams qualified on stage for the final round. The quiz witnessed an intense battle of minds and finally – Hardik M Modi and Parth Dhulia from Shri Mahavir Jain Charitra Kalayan Ratnashram (SMJCKR) Higher Secondary School, Bhavnagar emerged as State Winners and Ayush Zaveri and Mann Patel, Bhagwati International Public School, Patan were the Runners-up.
A total of 1020 students, teachers and community science center coordinators participated in the programme which was comprised of three segments – Augmented Tech, Humanized Big Data and On Demand Tech. Each of the rounds tested the student’s spectrum of knowledge in the IT sphere.
Dr. Shubhash Soni, Joint Secretary, Dept. of Science and Technology, Govt of Gujarat and Shri S. Vishwanathan, Tata Consultancy Services, Gandhinagar distributed the prizes. The winners received Rs 10,000/- and the runners-up Rs 7,000/- besides other prizes from TCS. All the finalists also received an array of prizes, certificates and a quiz book, with Teachers receiving a special recognition certificate.
Gujarat Council on Science & Technology (GUJCOST), working under the aegis of the Dept of Science & Technology, Govt of Gujarat coordinated the programme through its Community Science Centre network across the state.
A total of 844 schools with 4446 students (2852 boys and 1594 girls), 692 teachers participated in 33 districts in the state which was organized during July-August 2017.
The State winners will now participate in the National Finals to be held at Bangalore on 17th November where the National Winners will receive educational scholarship of Rs 1,00000/- and Runner-up Rs 50,000/-.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Narottam Sahoo expressed that the Rural IT Quiz is an exciting programme for the rural school students in promotion and popularization of information and communication technology (ICT) for their education and future exploration
The Rural IT Quiz programme is conceptualized and organized by the Dept. of IT, BT and Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka in association with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) across the States of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Karnataka.
