Skill Training on Protected Cultivation of Vegetable Crops commences at KVK Bandipora

BANDIPORA : A six days Skill Training Programme for Rural Youth (STRY) on “Protected Cultivation of Vegetable Crops” started at KVK Bandipora.

The programme is sponsored by MANAGE Hyderabad in collaboration with SAMETI Kashmir, Directorate of Extension SKUAST Kashmir.

STRY programs are aimed at imparting skill based training to rural youth on Agri-based vocational areas to promote employment of rural areas and for creation of skilled manpower to perform farm and non-farm operations.

In the programme 28 girls in the age group of 18 to 34 years from various parts of district Bandipora are participating.

The programme was formally inaugurated by Director Extension SKUAST Kashmir, Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi wherein Deputy Director (Trainings) SKUAST Kashmir Dr. Farahnaaz Rasool, Dr Tariq Sultan Programme Coordinator KVK Bandipora, Scientists of the KVK Bandipora including Dr Tahir Saleem (Coordinator of the training Programme), Dr Hilal Ahmad Malik , Dr Nazir Ahmad Mir and Dr M. S. Trumboo participated.

The programme has an active participation of 28 educated rural girls who shall be given hands on training regarding production and protection technologies under protected conditions. Besides trainees shall also be sensitized about the procedures of formulation of FPOs in vegetable crops.

Director Extension in his speech highlighted the significance of conducting such skill development programme and urged the participants to take full advantage of resources/ technological support from the Kendra.
