Skilled Weavers and Craftsmen to get continuous encouragement

Bhopal : The Minister for Cottage and Village Industry Shri Harsh Yadav presented 3-year state level Kabir Bunkar and Vishwakarma awards to the outstanding craftsmen of the state. Minister Shri Yadav while awarding the craftsmen on the concluding programme of National Handloom Expo at Bhopal Haat, said that the skilled craftsmen of clay art, bamboo art, wood arts, batik prints, gondi paintings, block prints, jute crafts and such other handicrafts will be continuously encouraged. He also saw an exhibition of art works on this occasion.

Minister Shri Yadav said that the state government has awarded the craftsmen by selecting them through jury for the years 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20. Certainly this encouragement will give artists an opportunity to refine their art and boost their economic growth through the sale of artworks. He said that because of the Chief Minister Shri Kamal Nath’s initiative to implement the departmental schemes in the interest of the weavers and craftsmen, the awards are being given to various skilled craftsmen. On one hand, attention is being paid to give training and providing work sheds to the weavers, on the other necessary assistance is being given for sale and marketing of their art works. Shri Yadav also released souvenir on this occasion.

On this occasion, Shri Yadav also presented consolation prizes to the craftsmen and awarded the children, who bagged prizes in 2 categories under the painting competition organised by the Handicraft Development Corporation. The Commissioner Handicraft Shri Rajeev Sharma was present on the occasion.
