SKKU: Multimedia Computing Systems Laboratory signed a MOU with Smart Machine and Assistive Robotics Technology at Purdue University

On November 18, the Department of Computer Education’s Multimedia Computing Systems Laboratory (MCSLab) signed a MOU for research cooperation and mutual exchange program for graduate students with Smart Machine and Assistive Robotics Technology (SMART) Lab at Purdue University.

The SMART Lab (Supervisor Byung-Cheol Min) is affiliated to Purdue University in Indiana, USA, and is a representative laboratory that is actively conducting research, including winning the NSF Career Award in the U.S. in robotics field. SKKU’s MSCLab (Supervisor Eun-Seok Ryu) is conducting international standardization and research on virtual reality (VR) video procession technology.

This MOU was signed to plan and prepare for research collaboration to attract international joint cooperation projects from the Ministry of Science and ICT in 2022 by expanding the existing small-scale research exchange. In order to conduct infrastructure research necessary for collaboration Jong-beom Jung, a Ph.D. researcher at MCS Lab, was sent to the SMART Lab in August, 2021 and Professor Ryu visited Purdue University to sign a MOU this November.

Through this agreement, two laboratories plan to expand their research scope in the direction of developing ‘next-generation robot visual technology’.
