SKUAST J team inspects progress on upcoming High Density Fruit Plant Nursery at Chakroi
JAMMU : Department of Horticulture Jammu is establishing a “Mega High Density Fruit Plant Nursery” over an area of 805 kanal at Chakroi, R.S Pura under the guidance of SKUAST Jammu.
The Nursery will be equipped with latest technology for production of quality true to type High Density Fruit Plants of Mango, Guava, Litchi, Citrus etc. The proposed nursery will be first of its kind as it would exclusively cater to the need of cultivars for high density plantation.
In this regard, a technical committee has been constituted by the Director Horticulture Jammu, Ram Savak, in association with SKUAST-J to expedite the establishment of the Mega High Density Fruit Plant Nursery.
In a bid to physically inspect the technical specifications of various inputs, machinery and other components for development of nursery, Dr. Prashant Bakshi, Associate Prof. (Fruit Science) SKUAST-J, a member of the technical committee from SKUAST-J along with Chakroi team today visited the mega nursery at Chakroi. He inspected various components and appreciated the progress made by the officers and staff of the Horticulture department in the development of Mega nursery.
Later, Dr. Bakshi examined the layout plan of Chakroi farm, briefed by the Chakroi team and inspected layout and Pit digging which were under progress. He also briefed about the benefit of plantation in raised structures in low lying areas, which is very well demonstrated by SKUAST-J in its campus.
