SOTTO’S weeklong organ donation awareness campaign concludes at GMC Jammu

JAMMU : The only solution to bridge gap between organ availability and organ requirement is through systematic strengthening of the deceased organ donation program, stated the Chief Guest Dr. Shashi Sudhan Sharma, Principal and Dean GMC Jammu while addressing the valedictory program of Organ Donation week organized by State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) J&K at Government Medical College Jammu on Friday.

She said “Nothing can be more selfless than truly giving those in need, a ray of hope and more precisely, a second chance to live.”

The program witnessed the participation of medical professionals, paramedical students etc.

Dr. Sanjeev Puri, Joint Director SOTTO J&K, gave a detailed presentation of the weeklong activities organised by SOTTO at various associated hospitals of GMC Jammu to raise awareness regarding deceased organ donation.

It is pertinent to mention here that the weeklong activities started with a mega rally on 22nd November 2021 in which around one thousand Asha workers from various blocks of Jammu district and paramedical students from various colleges participated.

On the second day of the campaign, SOTTO organised Nukkad Natak on organ donation and students from paramedical colleges participated in this event.

On the third day, SOTTO J&K organised Rangoli, poster making competition and blood donation camp in superspeciality hospital and MCH Gandhi Nagar respectively.

On the fourth day SOTTO J&K organised a speech and poem recitation competition.

The winners of all the events were also felicitated during the valedictory program.

Welcome note was presented by Dr. Rakesh Behl, Associate professor, P&SM deptt. GMC Jammu and vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Elias Sharma, Nodal Officer SOTTO J&K.

CMO Jammu, HoD’s from various departments of GMC, Dr. Arun Sharma MS, MCH Gandhi Nagar and Sadiq Khan, mass media information officer were also present during the program.
