SPbPU advances cooperation with leaders of Chinese materials science industry
Representatives of the Yangtze River Delta Advanced Materials Research Institute (China) visited Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. The visit took place within the framework of cooperation of SPbPU with the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute (JITRI) and the National Innovation Center of the Yangtze River Delta (NICE) and was devoted to the prospects of cooperation in the development and application of equipment for research of material properties.
The Advanced Materials Research Institute of the Yangtze River Delta (AMRI) is a young institute that is part of the JITRI system. It was established by the Jiangsu provincial government, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and major Chinese steel companies to meet the innovative needs of the Yangtze Delta industry.
AMRI conducts applied and basic research in four key areas: advanced metallic materials and applications, polymer technology, carbon fiber and composite materials, and organic functional materials.
Polytechnic University was first introduced to the Research Institute of Advanced Materials during the visit of SPbPU representative in Nanjing Shi Bochao to the head office of the Institute, where she met with AMRI deputy director Cheng Xiaonong, who expressed interest in cooperation with SPbPU.
During this visit, the Polytechnic University was visited by the heads of the cryogenic and photoelectron spectroscopy equipment development areas.
The parties discussed the technical specifics of applying the equipment developed by AMRI to the scientific activities of Polytechnic laboratories. Chinese colleagues noted that they are open to cooperation with foreign partners and invited the Polytechnic to visit China to get acquainted with the research infrastructure of the institute, as well as the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Center, equipped with AMRI devices.
In addition, the guests proposed to expand cooperation to train highly qualified personnel through the organization of student internships, joint postgraduate and postdoc programs with the assistance of the JITRI TALENTS project.
