SPbPU Bolsters Ties with Chinese Academy of Sciences, Enhancing Academic Collaboration
A representative delegation from the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (SICCAS) visited Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. Lianbi Su, Director of the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Liangbi Su, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Department, Hujiang Shen, Deputy Director of the Head Office, Beini Lu, Professor, Deputy Director of the Transparent Ceramics Laboratory, Jiang Li, as well as Professors Guozhong Li and Anhua Wu met with representatives of the international Office and specialized institutes of SPbPU.
Last November, Rector of SPbPU and Chairman of the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrei Rudskoi signed a cooperation agreement with Hu Jinbo, Director of the Shanghai Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Dmitry Arseniev, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, welcomed the guests at Polytechnic University. In his welcoming speech, he emphasized the importance of strengthening partnership between academic and higher education institutions of Russia and China.
Striving to achieve high results in science, Polytechnic University works closely with many institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and also has experience of joint research with a number of institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. As a development of this experience, we are interested in the implementation of large complex projects in promising fundamental areas, where the potential of the university and institutes of the Russian and Chinese Academies of Sciences can be effectively integrated, said Dmitry Arseniev.
Alexey Filimonov, Director of the Institute of Physics and Mechanics, Roman Burkovsky, Associate Professor of the Higher Engineering Physics School, and Vladimir Konakov, Chief Researcher of the Research Laboratory «Mechanics of New Nanomaterials», presented research and development directions to their Chinese colleagues. During the discussion, the participants reached preliminary agreements on joint research projects, participation in conferences supported by the Russian and Chinese Academies of Sciences.
Lianbi Su, Director of the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Academy of Sciences of the People’s Republic of China, noted the high level of technical equipment of Polytechnic University’s laboratories, the university’s scientific base and the professionalism of the scientific and teaching staff.
SICCAS attaches great importance to the development of the next generation of material scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs. The cooperation between Shanghai Institute of Ceramics and Polytechnic University can be very productive and mutually beneficial. Joint research and development of new technologies in ceramics will lead to significant scientific and technical achievements for both sides, Lianbi Su reported.
