Times Higher Education (THE) has published the results of the international THE University Impact Rankings 2024. It assesses the contribution of the world’s universities to the achievement of the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the UN.

Polytechnic took the first place among Russian universities in the ranking, and in the overall ranking of world universities it was included in the 201-300 group of places. A total of 2152 universities from 125 countries, including 79 Russian universities, are represented in this year’s ranking.

THE Impact Ranking reflects the impact of universities on education, social equity and environmental protection. THE Impact Ranking evaluates the performance of the world’s universities in four parameters (research, management, collaboration and teaching) and measures their performance against the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Polytechnic University particularly distinguished itself in the SDG «Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure », rising from 88th to 86th place in the global list. In Russia, Polytechnic University ranks second in this area. Another successful direction was «Life on Land», where SPbPU entered the 101-200 group of places in the world list and ranked second among Russian universities. Polytechnic University ranks first in the Russian Federation in the direction of «Responsible Consumption and Production», in the world — in the 201-300 group of places. SPbPU does not limit itself to education and science, but also actively participates in solving current regional and global problems. The University assumes responsibility for utilizing its potential for the benefit of society. Polytechnic University scientists are engaged in the development of technologies that improve the quality of life and have an impact on society as a whole, says SPbPU Rector Andrei Rudskoi.
