SPbPU: Institute of Civil Engineering students and graduates became winners of DigitalSkills 2021
The Republic of Tatarstan hosted the 3rd branch championship in the field of information technologies according to the WorldSkills DigitalSkills 2021 standards at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Center. Teams of students and graduates of the Civil Engineering Institute of SPbPU won prizes in the competition.
Polytechnics became prize winners at DigitalSkills 2021
The championship was held among students of secondary and higher education, employees of small, medium, and large businesses of the industry. The participants addressed the issues of staffing the digital economy.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, and the autonomous non-profit organization “Professional Skills Development Agency (Worldskills Russia).
Team competitions in the competence of “Information Modeling Technologies. BIM” competitors were graduates, teachers, and students of the Civil Engineering Institute, who represented Gazpromneft – Digital Solutions at the championship.

Institute of Civil Engineering graduates Polina SHERSTOBITOVA (assistant of GSHP&D) and Sergey NASYPAIKO received silver medals of the championship as part of the team. Master Degree students of the Institute of Civil Engineering Evgeniya DROVALEVA (program “Digital Construction of Buildings and Structures”) and Mikhail MOLCHANOV (program “Organization and Management of Investment and Construction Projects”) took third place with their team.
The main part of the competition lasted three days and consisted of five modules. The participants were engaged in the organization of the project structure in the general data environment, decomposition of work, marking the stages of development, tasks, milestones of the output of intermediate results, and also in the assignment of executors and construction of the Gantt chart. At other stages, they created a 3D model of the service station building with a store and a warehouse (sections AP, KM, KZH, and VK) in Autodesk Revit software using 2D drafts of the working documentation, created an assembly, and checked for collisions of adjacent sections in Autodesk Navisworks software, and uploaded the results of work in IFC format. The work ended with a defense of the projects in front of the experts.
Taking part in such events is a valuable experience. Firstly, it is an opportunity to meet colleagues from the industry. Secondly, it is a way to assess your skills and find areas for growth.
