SPbPU International Students Make Global Impact at International Forums
The beginning of the academic year was very busy for international students of Polytech. They took part in three international forums at once.
In Expoforum, the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Implementation of Migration Policy in St. Petersburg with the support of the Federal Agency for Nationalities of Russia held the 12th Youth Forum «St. Petersburg Is Territory of National Accord». Polytechnic University was represented by activists of the student organization «Foreign Students of the Institute of Humanities» and Svetlana Trotsyuk, Deputy Director of the Institute of Humanities for international Affairs.
The event united activists of national-cultural and public youth organizations, compatriots and Cossack societies of St. Petersburg, students of St. Petersburg universities. For the first time in the history of the event, more than 1,200 people took part in it.
The forum guests were offered 20 exciting master classes and trainings: from Russian folk dancing and cooking to calligraphy and playing national instruments. The Polytechnic team took an active part in one of the brightest events — a flash mob, in which participants assembled the Russian tricolor from colored sheets of paper.
The main goal of the forum is to unite young representatives of different nations living in St. Petersburg to strengthen creative, cultural and business ties, to form in young people a respectful attitude towards all nationalities, ethnicities and religions.
A delegation of international students of Polytechnic University accompanied by Pavel Nedelko, Assistant Vice-Rector, Natalia Braila, Associate Professor of the Higher School of Economics, and Tatiana Simankina, Associate Professor of the Higher School of Economics, took part in a ceremony dedicated to the Day of the St. Petersburg External Relations Committee. It took place in the historical park «Russia — My History».
There was a lively dialog with the leaders of the Committee, diplomats, friends and partners who participate in the international life of St. Petersburg. Chairman of the Committee for External Relations Evgeny Grigoriev answered the topical questions. He told about the results of the department’s work in recent years and described the plans for the future.
International students of Polytechnic visited the exhibition «My Petersburg», evaluated the city’s achievements and promising projects.
Irina Kolesnik, Associate Professor of the Higher School of Education, Lyubov Stepanova, Senior Teacher of Additional Education of the Higher School of Education, and Tamerlan Tuganov, Specialist in Educational and Methodological Work of IPMEiT, together with international students, became participants of the Tenth Forum of United Cultures, which took place from September 11 to 14.
The forum was attended by delegations from 50 countries and top officials of six international organizations. 200 Russian and 70 foreign speakers participated in 10 sections.
Key issues of the forum include building a culture of trust between nations, the role of historical heritage in uniting nations, the relationship between culture and business, the impact of artificial intelligence on various social aspects, as well as the involvement of creative youth in the development of creative industries and much more.
