SPbPU: Polytechnic University Expands Cooperation with Tashkent State Economic University
Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and Tashkent State University of Economics (Uzbekistan) entered the active phase of negotiations to agree on a roadmap for cooperation in specific areas for 2022-2023. During the April 5 online meeting the participants discussed the possibilities of developing joint network graduate programs, educational modules of summer schools and scientific partnerships. TSEU working group was headed by Dilshodjon Rakhmonov, vice-rector for international cooperation, SPbPU was represented by Dmitry Arseniev, vice-rector for international affairs, Vladimir Schepinin, director of the Institute of Industrial Management, Economics and Trade, Natalia Chicherina, director of the Institute of Humanities, Dmitry Rodionov, director of the Higher School of Engineering and Economics of IIME&T, representatives of the international Office and institutes.
Welcoming the participants, Dmitry Arseniev, vice-rector for international affairs of SPbPU, emphasized that Polytechnic University and universities in Uzbekistan are linked by decades of productive partnership. It is a pleasure to state that Polytechnic University and Tashkent State University of Economics have accumulated successful experience of cooperation in key humanitarian and economic areas over the past few years, and that we all see significant potential for expanding the areas of cooperation between us, noted Dmitry Arseniev.
TSEU vice-rector for international cooperation Dilshodjon Rakhmonov thanked his Russian colleagues for their partnership and support, and noted that one of the priority tasks of Tashkent State University of Economics is to adopt and implement the best practices of partners at its site. Polytechnic University has a wealth of experience in both international activities and scientific and educational achievements, which is of great interest to us. For our part, we express our readiness to develop various types of cooperation, stressed Dilshodjon Rakhmonov.
Today, SPbPU and TSEU cooperate closely in economic and humanitarian spheres. According to the Director of IIME&T Vladimir Schepinin, joint research work was conducted with colleagues from TSEU and an article on strategic approaches to management of sustainable tourism development was published. On the humanitarian front, as outlined by the director of Institute of Humanities Natalia Chicherina, a refresher course on the program «Communication Leadership» for employees and teachers of TSEU was held, a joint research work and prepared two training manuals in the field of intercultural communication. Moreover, SPbPU and TSEU regularly exchange professors’ lectures.
Based on the existing ties and mutual interests, the participants of the negotiations have identified priority areas for cooperation. In particular, the parties plan to work on opening of joint educational Master’s degree programs, including double degree programs; to continue to participate in academic exchanges and the programs of guest professors, to conduct joint research, including the support of international grant programs. In addition, the participants separately discussed the issue of opening joint educational modules of summer schools. It was agreed to hold in the near future a series of online meetings at the level of institutes and departments to develop and agree on specific items of the Roadmap. It is planned to continue the negotiations in person during the visit of the SPbPU official delegation to Uzbekistan in May 2022.
