SPbPU Showcases Engineering and Technology Excellence at Union State University Forum

The 13th Forum of Higher Education Institutions of Engineering and Technology of the Union State is an important event that gathers leading educational institutions, specialists and students from Russia and Belarus united by common interests. In 2024, the forum was held for the first time in Russia at the site of R. E. Alekseev Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University.

The main goal of the event is to concentrate the efforts of all participants on the formation of an inter-university platform for the realization of key areas of integration cooperation in the field of education, science and technology.

The forum discussed the primary tasks, including the exchange of experience between universities on the development of engineering education in the context of economic transformation. The participants also focused on the need to build and strengthen the image of the Union State, popularize science and activate creative activities among young people.

Special attention was paid to the creation of conditions for the development of youth innovative entrepreneurship, which became an important step towards the activation of enterprising youth within the Union State. The Forum became a platform for exchange of ideas and development of joint strategies.

Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University was represented in Nizhny Novgorod by Alexey Filimonov, Acting Director of the Institute of Physics and Mechanics. He spoke at the section «Development of Engineering Education in the Union State» with the report «Experience of SPbPU Partnership with Universities of the Republic of Belarus». The material for the report was prepared jointly with the international services of the University.

Alexey Filimonov spoke at the round table devoted to the prospects of cooperation between engineering and technology universities. The participants discussed joint projects and programs with long-standing partners from Belarus, including BRU, BSU and BSUIR.

We strive to integrate education, science and production. Together with our Belarusian partners we discuss topical issues and look for ways to solve them. It is important that such events allow not only sharing experience, but also shaping the future of engineering education in our countries, said Filimonov.

A contest of innovative projects was held at the section «The Best Youth Startup of the Union State». It was decided to create an inter-university platform for integration cooperation in the development of education, science and technology. All this will become a part of the strategy of scientific and technological development of the Union State for the period until 2035.
