SPbPU: The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in St. Petersburg congratulated SPbPU students from China on the Chinese New Year

This year the celebration of the Chinese New Year begins on February 1. On the occasion of the approaching event, the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in St. Petersburg prepared gifts for Chinese compatriots, including students from the Polytechnic University of China. The holiday packages they received included New Year’s cards, personal anti-viral protection kits, traditional rice cakes, and desserts. The event was held in compliance with all necessary safety precautions at PolyUnion International Student Club.

The congratulatory letters for the Chinese students of Polytechnic University contain warm greetings and wishes for the Spring Festival, which is the name of the New Year in China. Personal protection kits, as noted by the organizers of the campaign, «will give strength and help defeat the virus». Rice cakes in the shape of fishes, according to Chinese tradition, symbolize abundance, and the inscription «Ji Xiang Zhu Yi» on desserts denotes the best wishes for the New Year.

On behalf of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in St. Petersburg, the gifts were given to the Chinese students of SPbPU by Zeng Ya, who is also a student of Polytechnic University, and has already repeatedly helped her compatriots during the pandemic. It is very important and valuable that Chinese students, in their turn, show selflessness and help other students.
