Special Olympics Bharat concludes its National Coaching Camp – Table Tennis at Manav Rachna Educational Institutions

Over 104 Campers including 72 Athletes and 32 Coaches from 14 States celebrated a successful conclusion to the National Coaching Camp held in Table Tennis. The Camp is hosted by Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, Faridabad, as the knowledge partner of SO Bharat.

 

The ceremony culminated in the distinguished presence of Special Guest Dr. Mallika Nadda – Chairperson, SO Bharat accompanied by Dr. Amit Bhalla – Vice President, MREI and Dr. Sanjay Srivastava – MD, MREI & Vice-Chancellor, MRIIRS, Smt. Latika Sharma – State Patron, SOB; Shri Gopal Sharma – District President, BJP Faridabad; Shri Devendra Chaudhary – Senior Deputy Mayor, MCF, Mr. Harpreet Singh – Joint Director Sports, SOB along with other guests and dignitaries.

 

The Camp is being held at the premises of the Manav Rachna Institute from 15-20 July, 2022 and is providing world class facilities to the Athletes and coaches for honing their skills to finally face global competition.

 

Alongside the training for Table Tennis, they are also being prepared with stress management, social interaction, team building, concentration, problem-solving through different activities like team building games, zumba, scribbling and many others that were delivered by the expert faculty at Department of Applied Psychology (FBSS). A special workshop on team building through expressive art therapy for coaches of Special Olympics Bharat was also conducted by experts from the Department of Applied Psychology (FBSS). These sessions provided a holistic experience to the Athletes. The Camp was held to select the probables in Table Tennis for the Special Olympics World Summer Games 2023, Berlin Germany.

 

Dr. Amit Bhalla while addressing the dignitaries, guests and athletes said, “Manav Rachna started with our visionary founder Dr. O P Bhalla’s dream of creating better human beings who work towards nation building. Our learning for special needs started from schools, where we focus on creating a special environment for special children as every special child needs a special society which believes in inclusive education. SO World Summer Games 2023, Berlin Germany

 

From 17–25 June 2023, Berlin, Germany will welcome 7,000 Special Olympics athletes and Unified partners from approximately 170 countries to compete in 24 sports. The athletes will be supported by more than 3,000 coaches and 20,000 volunteers. SO Bharat will be represented by a 282 strong contingent that includes 181 Special Athletes and 58 Coaches, participating in 14 sports.

 

The Special Olympics World Games offer the opportunity to unite the world like no other event can. Here people with and without disabilities, people of different nations, cultures, political views and religions meet and can overcome existing prejudices with the power of sport.
