Spic Macay IIT Gandhinagar chapter to organise ‘Kala Samanvay’

Gandhinagar: The Cultural Council of Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) and the Spic Macay IITGN chapter are bringing ‘Kala Samanvay’, a series of live online cultural events from September 12 to 14, 2020. All the events would be LIVE on IITGN Cultural Council’s YouTube channel.

 

As a part of this series, a celebrated artist and Padma Shri awardee Geeta Chandran will perform Bharatanatyam on September 12, 2020, that can be watched live from 6:30 to 8 pm on this link: https://youtu.be/jG9u0L54nyY. On September 13, 2020, one of the most compelling folk singers of India and Padma Shri recipient Prahlad Tipaniya will present Kabeer Sangeet, which can be viewed live from 6:30 to 8 pm on the following link: https://youtu.be/ZFEp-J7axWY. The last day of the series would have a screening of an acclaimed Japanese movie, Kumonosu-jō (Throne of Blood) by Akira Kurosawa, on September 14 at 9:30 pm. The movie screening would be followed by interaction and discussion by Dr Arka Chattopadhyay, Assistant Professor, Humanities and Social Sciences, IITGN.

 

The Spic Macay IIT Gandhinagar chapter was formed in the year 2010. Since then, the Institute has witnessed performances by Ustad Murad Ali Khan, Pt Kaivalya Kumar Gurav, Smt Manjusha Patil, Smt Kamala Shankar, Smt Kala Ramnath, Smt Suchismita and Smt Debopriya.
