Spike in COVID cases: Markets to open on rotation basis in Bandipora

 

Bandipora: A round of meetings were held today with officers and civil society members of District Bandipora regarding further strengthening of the COVID containment measures in the district.

In this regard, on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmed, a meeting was convened by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zahoor Ahmad Mir chaired in view of the instructions of the Government for regulation of opening of shops and plying of public transport vehicles earlier today.

President MC Bandipora, Basharat Ahmad, ARTO Bandipora, Mohammad Suhaib, SHO Bandipora, Showkat Ahmad, President Traders Federation Shamshaad Ahmad, and President Transport Association other senior officers of the district attended the meeting.

Expressing concern over resurgence of Covid-19 cases, ADC Bandipora stressed upon strict enforcement of new Covid-19 SOPs. He also highlighted the measures that have been put in place by district administration to contain the spread of Coronavirus infection.

He said the night curfew shall remain in place from tonight in Municipal limits of the district from 10 pm to 6 am

He said the Public transport shall be permitted only at 50 percent of its authorized seating capacity while only 50 percent of shops in market shall be opened on alternate basis through a rotation system as per the guidelines issued.

The meeting stressed on enforcement of guidelines including compulsory wearing of masks, maintaining social distance, use of sanitizers and sanitization. He said that those found roaming at public places and gatherings without face masks shall be fined.

Mir directed all the concerned officers to adhere to the instructions and supervise Covid-19 containment measures in collaboration with Health and Police Departments, in their respective jurisdictions.

ADC appealed to people to strictly follow the COVID appropriate behavior so that no strict measures are further taken. He appealed to people to cooperate with the administration in tackling the pandemic.

On the occasion the civil society members, transporters and traders landed full support to the administration and assured them they would follow the guidelines in letter and spirit.

Similar meetings were held at Sub Division level in Gurez and Sumbal where SDMs chaired meetings of officers and civil society members regarding enforcement of SOPs.
