SPJIMR’s Annual Convocation 2023: 548 participants conferred degrees

 

Mumbai : SPJIMR, Mumbai: S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research held its annual convocation on May 13, 2023, on its sprawling Mumbai campus. A total of 548 graduates across six programmes, including full-time, executive and modular, received their graduation certificates, joining the ranks of SPJIMR’s illustrious alumni pool of over 15,000 spread across the globe.

 

As part of the ceremony, the Dean, Associate Deans, and Programme Chairs led the convocation procession, which was joined by the faculty and graduates. The ceremony was presided over by Mr Deepak Parekh, Chairman of the SPJIMR Governing Council, who introduced the Chief Guest, Mr Amit Chandra, Chairperson and Founder, Bain Capital India Office and a philanthropist (Co-founder, A.T.E Chandra Foundation).

 

Dean, Dr Varun Nagaraj spoke about the institute’s transition towards becoming a world-class institution with a focus on enhancing research output and community impact at scale. He said, “We need leaders, organisations, and society to innovate and scale wisely, with humility, inclusivity, and socio-environmental sensitivity. As a result, we have expanded our mission to include the Northstar of ‘advancing wise innovation’ – which is innovation that is done the right way for the right reasons and achieves the right outcomes.” Dean Nagaraj also highlighted the institute’s accomplishments over the last year and spoke about other significant initiatives.

 

“To achieve greatness, it is important for us to have clarity on our sense of purpose. Having some social consciousness woven into it, makes it far more satisfying.” said Chief Guest, Mr Amit Chandra during his inspiring message to SPJIMR graduates, urging them to embrace perseverance, purpose, and relationships on their path to success. He also shared his 6-R framework for success, emphasising the importance of having a clear Reason, being Resolute, building genuine Relationships, being Righteous, taking thoughtful Risks, and Returning & Receiving, to achieve success.

 

The ceremony culminated with the conferring of the oath by the Dean, as the graduates threw their hats in the air to symbolise the start of a new journey. The convocation ceremony was a truly momentous occasion, as 1700+ attendees gathered to witness the graduates taking their first step towards a bright future, marked by great success and meaningful contributions to society. SPJIMR looks forward to seeing its graduates thrive in their respective fields and contribute to society in meaningful ways.
