Sports Week celebrations in full Swing to commemorate I-Day, 2021: J&K Sports Council
SRINAGAR : Continuing with the sports week celebrations, J&K Sports Council today organised a series of events to commemorate the Independence Day celebrations.
Early in the morning, a short run was flagged-off by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, P. K Pole from Lalit Grand Palace which culminated at TRC Football Turf. The Div Com presided over the function as chief guest and a large number of players and trainees from different disciplines participated in the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Sports Council Nuzhat Gull advised children to adopt a healthy lifestyle and stay away from the menace of drug abuse. Coaches and many officials from the Sports Council also took an active part in the short run.
Later, a Cricket Tournament for the registered trainees of Sports Council cricket academy was inaugurated at TRC Cricket Academy Ground by Raies Ahmad Bhat, Assistant Commissioner Revenue and Owais Mushtaq Sub Divisional Magistrate East.
Speaking on the occasion, Owais Mushtaq asked participants to take active part in sports as it helps in the personality development besides enhancing the decision making capability of the individual.
Raies Ahmad Bhat encouraged all the participants to give their best in the ongoing event.
Divisional Sports Officer Central Nuzhat Gazala, Hilal Ahmad Incharge TRC Sports Facility and Mohammad Amin Incharge Radpora Sports Field were also present on the occasion.
J&K Sports Council and Pencak Silat Association of J&K jointly conducted the 6th edition of District Srinagar Pencak Silat Championship 2021-22. The event was held at Indoor stadium Polo ground Srinagar from today.
Director, Horticulture declared the event open and presided over the function as Chief Guest while Kifayat Rizvi Honorary General Secretary Indian Red Cross Society was the Guest of Honor.
The other officials who were present on the occasion included Nusrat Gazala Divisional Sports Officer Central and Mohammad Iqbal, Manager Indoor stadium Poloview.
Meanwhile, J&K Sports Council and J&K Rugby Association jointly organised 13th District Srinagar Rugby Championship 2021-22 at Madre Meharbaan Playing Field Ganderbal from today to commemorate 75th Independence Day Celebrations.
J&K Sports Council and J&K Boxing Association also organised a joint Day and Night Boxing Competition at Sports Stadium Poonch today.
In another event, Secretary Sports Council Nuzhat Gull inaugurated Bijbehara Premier Cricket League in Bijbehara Higher Secondary School ground in the presence of SSP Anantnag Mir Imtiaz Hussain and Parveez Rasool Technical Advisor J&K Sports Council today.
More than 40 teams are participating in the cricket tournament, which is being played on turf wicket.
Nuzhat Gull while addressing players said these tournament will provide a platform to the rural talent and many players like Parvez Rasool are the products of these kind of tournaments.
SSP Anantnag Mir Imtiaz said that these tournaments help in curbing the drug menace and substance abuse.
Similarly marking the Independence Day sports week celebrations, Wushu Kung Fu Day was celebrated by Wushu Association of J&K in association with J&K Sports Council at Gindun Multi Sports Complex Rajbagh in which more than 200 players participated. World Wushu Kung Fu Day is celebrated across the world on 7th August.
Wushu Association of J&K shall be observing the similar sports week celebrations in Jammu.
Yogesh Sehani, Chief Patron Wushu Association of J&K and former sports minister was the Chief Guest on the occasion while as Director Horticulture, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat was Guest of honour and Commissioner Sales Tax Ghulam Jelani, Divisional Sports Officer Central, Nuzhat Gazala were also present on the occasion.
