Sri Sri Ravi Shankar delivers discourse on ‘Day of Belongingness through a Webinar organized by Amity University
Blending modernity with tradition, Amity University Uttar Pradesh organized a discourse by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji to celebrate the ‘Day of Belongingness’ and a lecture by Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, Chairman, Defence Research and Development Organisation and Secretary, Department of Defence R&D, Government of India on innovation during Covid.
The webinar provided a great opportunity to thousands of Amitians from India and across the globe to rejoice and further strengthen the bond of love and togetherness through the virtual platform this year as the world is grappling with social distancing amidst this growing pandemic. ‘Day of Belongingness’ is commemorated to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University.
In this webinar Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group; Dr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University; Dr. Aseem Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University Haryana and Dr. Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity Schools shared their thoughts on the Day of Belongingness. A number of activities were held online to commemorate the day were also organized including Essay Writing Competition; Knowledge Sharing & Enhancing Platform Series; Alumni Forum; Discussion Forum Series and a number of webinars by government and industry officials.
Addressing the Amity Family Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji said that during this time of Coronavirus, the world needs to stand together. “Amity University is playing a great role in field of education. Through these online lectures Amity is bringing the youth together and helping them to engage. Youngsters today are going through a peculiar situation where a hero is misconnected with having aggression, pushing the youth to embrace this behavior. On the other hand, some of the youth get into depression. These two extreme emotions have rattled the students. Practicing meditation through spiritual medium can help relieve these two extremes of aggression and depression,” advised Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji.
He also shared how ancient sayings of Lord Krishna and Lord Buddha have come to our practical life of today. “Amity University has correctly used the theme of webinar that is day of belongingness as it’s a need of today’s time. Dr. Ashok Chauhan has bound people together across the globe though education. Where there is belongingness, humanity is also there. Universities are openly taking up the spiritual sayings. We will have to make people embrace Gyaan and Dhyaan all across the world. Keep smiling, make your mind happy and be helpful towards people,” shared Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji.
Dr. Ashok K Chauhan shared how Gurudev’s words were a blessing for the entire Amity family. “All people listening to you will see their life undergo a big change. With your words of wisdom Amity students will successful reach their path. To achieve anything in life you have to follow Behavioral science in your life,” said Dr. Chauhan.
Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity International Schools thanked Shri Shri Ravi Shankar ji for his enlightening words. “If you give respect and love, you will get it back for sure. Our teachers are giving a lot of time to students to keep them engaged and are also being one of the brave corona warriors,” said Mrs. Chauhan.
Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, Chairman, Defence Research and Development Organisation and Secretary, Department of Defence R&D, Government of India shared the various initiatives and activities being conducted by DRDO to tackle the spread of covid-19. Dr. Reddy averred how everyone was contributing in their own way towards battling the pandemic.
“Lot of efforts is going on to make therapeutic medications. Entire nation is contributing and DRDO plunged into activities right from day one taking up the cause. We started by preparing sanitizers. More than 5 lakh sanitizer bottles have been distributed across the country. Labs across the country have been given the formulations, who are further producing them locally. Many instruments/ machines used for sanitization are also being prepared and distributed. Foot sanitizers, sanitizers made from UVC, hand dryers; a UVC for baggage screening especially for airports and UV Blaster. We have also developed a mask called N-99 with better levels of filtration and are also producing 30 thousand masks every day. We also developed multiple fabrics for PPEs and in the last one month we have developed three types of PPEs. We have also created complete face shield at DRDO. We are also making large number of ventilators including a mechanism where one ventilator can be used for multiple patients. We are also working on creating many software including one that is tracking people in quarantine. We have also created secure video conferencing software to allow communication to happen. Vaccine development and therapeutic drug development is also going on,” shared Dr. Reddy. He further thanked each and every individual and organizations who have responded and contributed in this time of global pandemic.
Chanting the Gayatri Mantra, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan shared in this time of COVID crisis. “My aim is to make India a knowledge super power and India can do it. Post this pandemic, we will emerge as a global superpower. Belongingness is a great word and it gives you great strength. Each Amitian knows this value all across the world. I have created belongingness towards God and my entire family is an example of it,” said Dr. Chauhan. He also announced how all his Vice Chancellor’s will establish Amity Connect Network with an aim to have 1 million people connected in next two years and this network will believe in belongingness and sail India to make a global superpower.
“During these unprecedented times as we connect over servers and clouds, we are all linked by a feeling of belongingness. It is a feeling of sharing and caring and being though good and bad times and to have a common shared mission of changing the world through research and innovation and education. We are thankful to FP for giving us this goal. Amitians have a done a lot for people in need during these times, manifesting our Founder President’s philosophy and vision. Our Chancellor perfectly embodies the feeling of belongingness,” said Dr. Aseem Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University, Additional President, Ritnand Balved Education Foundation (RBEF).
Dr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University shared his joy for all the love and support in celebrating the day of belongingness. “For us Amitians nothing is impossible is the message shared by our Founder to us. You have shown the feeling of belongingness and love for each other by coming online for this event. I have been truly blessed to have grown under the guidance of Dr. Chauhan. Caring for other people from your heart and loving them is the fundamental philosophy taught by Dr. Ashok Chauhan. The bedrock in which Amity is based is working as one team, caring for others and helping the society. I am also thankful and happy to see our alumni and their families have joined. Every day of our lives we will strive to make Amity better s a commitment that I also give along with the founder. The support that we give we give each other during this time is crisis is important. Over 100,000 people have been fed through Amity kitchens along with contributing a substantial amount to the PM Care Fund,” shared Dr. Atul Chuahan.
