Sri Sri University celebrates 10th Commencement Day virtually

Cuttack : Sri Sri University (SSU) held its 10th Commencement Ceremony on virtual platform to start the Academic Year 2021-22, with over 600 undergraduate and postgraduate students from diverse fields viz., Commerce and Management, Agriculture, Architecture, Yogic Sciences, Osteopathy, Sanskrit, English, Computer Science, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Fine Arts, Psychology & Contemplative Studies, Animation, AI & ML, Cyber Security, etc., in the presence of esteemed leaders from academia and the industry.
The ceremony was graced by Shri Subroto Bagchi ji, Hon’ble Chairman of Odisha Skill Development Authority, Govt. of Odisha and Co-Founder, Mindtree Ltd. as Chief Guest, Prof. (Mrs.) Rajita Kulkarni, Hon’ble President, Sri Sri University, Hon’ble members of the Board of Governors of Sri Sri University Justice R.C. Lahoti, Former Chief Justice of India, Mr. Dev Varyani, Founder & Chairman, Vista Group & Subsidiaries, Cmde. H.G. Harsha, Chairman, SSRVM Trust, and team members of Sri Sri University. The ceremony was commenced by chanting of Gurupuja by Shri Narendra Lamba followed by Saraswati Vandana and Odissi Dance presented and performed by students of Performing Arts, Faculty of Arts, Communication, and Indic Studies, Sri Sri University. Prof. Ajay Kumar Singh, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Sri Sri University delivered the welcome address and congratulated the students for being blessed to be chosen to be the part of Sri Sri University at the time when the Nation is celebrating 75 years of Independence, Art of Living is celebrating its 40 years of existence, Sri Sri University is celebrating the 10th Commencement Day. He invited students to take part in the Aazadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Programme, Mission 40 X 40, club activities, apart from working towards their aspirations. Prof. Singh advised students to set S. M. A. R. T. Goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound) and work hard to achieve them.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Subroto Bagchi, addressed the gathering stating that, “In life it is very important to listen to others’ sounds before rendering your sound.” Mr. Bagchi said that we all have the capacity for self observance and it is an important factor. He also said that it is okay to have bad habits but it’s important to reach out, look for an angel and speak to them to get out of those bad habits. He suggested to students that they have enough time to solve problems on earth but now it is time to get educated and stand on their feet more firmly. To stay out of misery one must not worry about the things which are not there in our hands. He talked about ambitions and stated that success is when an ordinary person does extraordinary things. He told students that one impactful experience will change you and at the end he stated that though change is the only constant but some things must be constant after changes that are our core values.

Prof. (Mrs.) Rajita Kulkarni, President, Sri Sri University delivered the Presidential Address and said, University will provide the students with the vehicle and GPS for their path to success. She said that this is the day to celebrate the new beginning and she congratulated all the students for joining and told them that this is a golden journey for students. She advised students to take sankalpa that they will use the time, resources and opportunities to their best to learn better and for prosperity of family, organization and society.
During his address, Justice R.C. Lahoti shared with students some practical tips and inspired them to be different from others and let their smile change the world. He quoted Swami Vivekanand sharing that “mind your thoughts they become your words, mind your words they become action and mind your actions they become character”. He advised students to always strive for excellence and excellence is the competition with oneself. Everyone must think that today by the end of the day I will be a better person than I was yesterday. Mr. Dev Varyani and Commodore H. G. Harsha, Members of Board of Governance Sri Sri University, also shared their valuable insights with students.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks offered by Prof. B. R. Sharma, Executive Registrar. The Ceremony ended with the national anthem.
