Sri Sri University Launches 3 day Online Global Start- up Ideathon
Cuttack: Sri Sri University has launched a three day online Global Start-up Ideathon yesterday. The university received registrations from seven different countries, 20 states of India and applicants from premier institutes such as IIM Bangalore, IIM Indore, IIM Kozhikode, VIT, XIMB, etc. This programme is being mentored by established startup founders and industry experts and other key stakeholders of the Startup ecosystem from nine different countries. Participants are pitching their ideas to a group of jury members having rich experience in mentoring start-ups and corporate.
Chief Guest, Dr. Mahesh Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director, Kent RO Systems Ltd, Guest of Honours like Dr. Pravat K. Roul, MD, APICOL, and Dr. S.K.Sahoo, Director In-charge, MSME-DI, Cuttack spoke about the need of young people rising to the occasion to create businesses. Mrs. Rajita Kulkarni, Hon’ble President and Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Kumar Singh, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, spoke about integrating emotional intelligence with entrepreneurial intelligence and how spiritual intelligence helps develop an innovative mind. Prof Srinivas Subbarao, Dean, FCMS & CEO, SSU Innovation Pvt. Ltd made the opening remarks and Prof Vijaya Lakshmi Mohanty introduced the guests. The Gurupuja was conducted by Narendra Lamba, Director Operations of the university and Prof. (Dr.) B. R. Sharma, Executive Registrar, Sri Sri University offered the official vote of thanks.
The coordinator of the programme and the Director of the Sri Sri University’s Incubation Centre Prof. Barada Panigrahy highlighted the need for such programmes as there is a huge need for job creation around the world. He hopes that despite close to 30 million individuals have lost their jobs in by July 2020 at the global level, the unemployment rate will go down as the unlocking happens. But the economy will depend a lot more on creating new business opportunities. He argued that Global Ideathon intends to contribute there.
During this competition, the best five ideas and teams will get free professional mentoring support for six months by a group of empanelled mentors of Sri Sri University. The winners will get the opportunity to pitch their ideas to prospective investors. In addition to this, the best five ideas in Social and CSR sector will get access to pitch to the International Association of Human Values (IAHV) and get the opportunity to tap to seed funding.
This Global Ideathon is not just another entrepreneurship competition, but it is a support platform for budding and aspiring entrepreneurs to convert their ideas into actions and dreams into reality, by providing handholding support at each stage of their entrepreneurial journey, which will lead to job creation in Post Covid-19 pandemic times. Sri Sri University creates such innovative programs periodically.
