STAIRS Foundation in collaboration with Satyawati College Hosts the transformative National Conference of Physical Education and Sports Sciences: “Elevating Grassroots: A Pathway to Health, Fitness, and Olympic Excellence in India”
New Delhi : The Society for Transformation, Inclusion, and Recognition through Sports (STAIRS), a National Sports Promotion Organisation in collaboration with Satyawati College, Delhi University, kickstarted the National Conference of Physical Education and Sports Sciences today, centered around the theme “Elevating Grassroots: A Pathway to Health, Fitness, and Olympic Excellence in India.” The two-day conference by the Physical Education and Sports Sciences Department of STAIRS Foundation has been scheduled for the 15th and 16th of December at Satyawati College. With discussions on various themes and workshops to promote the overall physical development and well-being of athletes and students, the event is dedicated to building a healthier and more competitive India, turning the nation into a powerhouse of athletic talent.
The event is poised to be a significant step in Indian sports, aligning with the visionary outlook of the Prime Minister and the relentless efforts of the Sports Ministry to revolutionize the landscape through initiatives like the Fit India Movement and the Khelo India Program. The conference will host prominent dignitaries with Shri Gaurav Bidhuri, World Champion Bronze Medalist in Boxing as the Chief Guest, Shri Siddhartha Upadhyay, President of STAIRS Foundation, President Awardee and Former Governing Council Member of the Sports Authority of India as the key speaker to share his valuable insights and Dr. Sujay John, International Commentator & Assistant Professor at St. Stephen’s College. Professor Anju Seth, Principal Satyawati College and Dr. Sanjay Chaudhary, Associate Professor, Satyawati College also graced the event with their guidance and efforts. Sports Scientists from across the world participated in the conference and encouraged the students with their words of wisdom and experience.
The discussions and presentations will revolve around collaborative strategies to amplify the impact of grassroots initiatives. From upgrading sports infrastructure in schools to fostering a culture of wellness, the discussions aim to shape the narrative of Indian sports.
The conference also provided a platform for the students to showcase their passion and interest in Physical Education and Sports through the National Awards in Physical Education and Sports Sciences. The participants who submitted their entries with White Papers and Posters based on the themes will be facilitated during the award ceremony as a conclusion to the conference.
Talking about the conference and the need of the hour, Shri Siddhartha Upadhyay, President of STAIRS, Foundation, President Awardee, and Former Governing Council Member of the Sports Authority of India, said, “This conference is a perfect example of continuous collaborative efforts to further boost the importance of Physical Education in institutes and further develop the Sporting Spirit in India. While discussing the ongoing efforts towards achieving the national goals, he further added, “The Sports Ministry’s unwavering commitment to promoting sports at the grassroots level is reflected in its multifaceted approach. From upgrading sports infrastructure in schools to organizing competitions that span across various disciplines, the ministry is leaving no stone unturned. The emphasis is not solely on producing elite athletes but also on instilling a sports culture that permeates every stratum of society. STAIRS Foundation also through its grassroot level programs like ‘One India One Goal’, is committed to prepare Bharat for the Olympic bid, in line with the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Modi.

The country needs more talent to rise at the Olympics and discussions like this will give the emerging talents confidence and empower them to take up Sports as their goal.
