Starscapes to host Astro Camp at Spiti Valley and Chandratal
Bengaluru: Starscapes, India’s leading Astro tourism company, will host an Astro Camp at Kaza in Spiti Valley and Chandratal, in Himachal Pradesh from 10th July 2023 to 9th September 2023.
Kaza in Spiti Valley and Chandratal, with their pristine skies, elevated landscapes, and minimal light pollution, are a heaven for nature lovers. Particularly appealing to astronomy enthusiasts, these destinations have a Bortle scale rating of 1, making them ideal for stargazing. Starscapes’ Astro Camp provides a rare opportunity for participants to fully immerse themselves in the wonders of the cosmos and indulge in the offbeat experiences that these places have to offer.

The Astro Camp will feature the following activities:

Celestial show – Guided Tour Across the Night Sky: Embark on a 45-minute journey through the night sky, exploring the moon, planets, and stars. Gain knowledge about the night sky, its scientific significance, historical context, and mythological aspects. Learn to identify celestial objects and constellations.

Planetary Parade: Witness the planets heralding the sun at daybreak. Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn will be visible to the naked eye, while telescopes offer an even more awe-inspiring spectacle.

The Moon – Earth’s companion: Observe the moon through a telescope and learn about its formation, influence on Earth, cultural significance throughout history and across different societies, and its role in expanding our understanding of the universe. Explore its craters and attempt to identify various Apollo and Chandrayaan landing sites.

Sun observations: See the sun in all its glory.. Discover methods for viewing the Sun at home, such as pinhole cameras, ball projectors, or solar goggles. If you’re fortunate, you may witness sunspots and even the elusive solar flares.

STEM workshops: Engage in hands-on activities like building and launching rockets using materials readily available at home. Create your own sundials and grasp the concept of timekeeping. Explore the fundamental principles of a camera by constructing one yourself.

Selfie with the stars: Imagine a backdrop of star-studded night sky and a selfie with the stars? Starscapes can make it happen.
