Start Bhopal and Indore Metro Rail before August 2023-MinisteR Bhupendra Singh

Bhopal : Set a target to start Bhopal and Indore Metro Rail before the deadline of August 2023. Decide time limit of all works and act accordingly. These instructions were given by the Minister for Urban Development and Housing Shri Bhupendra Singh during a review of works of Metro Rail. Shri Singh has said that the Principal Secretary should monitor it personally, so that all the works could be completed within the stipulated time.

Information as regard to works of Bhopal and Indore Metro Rail was given through presentation in the meeting. The work to construct pillars from AIIMS has been started for the Bhopal Metro project. So far, 80 pillars have already been constructed. The total project cost of Bhopal Metro Rail is Rs. 6 thousand 941 crore and the total project cost of Indore Metro Rail is Rs. 7 thousand 580 crore.

The Minister Shri Singh has asked to issue remaining tenders of the works concerning the project. He further stated that works should also be started in Indore soon.

Accelerate the pace of works of Mini Smart Cities

The Minister for Urban Development and Housing Shri Singh directed to accelerate the pace of works of Mini Smart Cities. He expressed displeasure over the slow pace of works. Shri Singh instructed the Commissioner Urban Administration to submit a report within a week in context to problems being faced in completing works of Mini Smart Cities. It may be mentioned that 13 Mini Smart Cities have been approved in the state. Shri Singh said that construction agency should be replaced in places, where the work is not being undertaken. Consider making urban body as agency, he added.

The Principal Secretary Urban Administration and Development Shri Nitesh Vyas and Commissioner Urban Administration and Development Shri Nikunj Kumar Shrivastava were present at the meeting.
