State Election Commissioner KK Sharma expresses grief over passing of Senior KAS officer Shamim Wani

Jammu: State Election Commissioner, K K Sharma has expressed profound grief over the sad demise of senior KAS officer Mr. Shamim Ahmad Wani, who passed away yesterday morning at Government Medical College & Hospital, Jammu due to COVID complications.

While recalling his association with the late officer, the SEC described Mr Shamim as a dedicated, soft spoken and intelligent officer. The SEC noted that Dr Shamim A Wani served with great commitment and professionalism in the committee constituted by the Government last year for coming up with a road map for providing relief to the industries and commerce sector of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, which had taken a hit due to the Global COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Shamim Wani felt greatly concerned for the poor and marginalized as also for others who were genuinely impacted by the adversity, SEC recalled.

He also recalled his contribution as Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Special Secretary, Finance and Commissioner State Taxes among others.

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, SEC prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and courage to family members to bear this irreparable loss that has saddened him deeply.
