Students created a new record at “CHENNAI READS” organized by BAPASI

• A curtain raiser for the 43rd Chennai Book Fair shortly to be inaugurated
Chennai: As a precursor to the Chennai Book Fair 2020, one of Asia’s largest Book Fair, BAPASI (The Booksellers’ & Publishers’ Association of South India) organizes a reading initiative “CHENNAI READS” at 11:00 am today in YMCA Grounds, Nandanam, Chennai for students.
Around 5,000 students of various Government and Private Schools from in and around Chennai gathered today to read at the same time and at the same place created a new record. Parents, Teachers and general public were part of this great event.
“CHENNAI READS” was graciously presided over by Mrs. R. Seethalakshmi – District Collector, Chennai. Mr. R.S. Shanmugam – President, BAPASI, Mr. S. K. Murugan – Secretary, BAPASI and Mr. A.Gomathinayagam – Treasurer, BAPASI along with other office bearers of BAPASI were all present during the event.
Students happily and heartily participated in the reading session from the book distributed by BAPASI for 30 minutes. The students exhibited great enthusiasm and joy while reading from the book.
The event was organized to encourage the reading habits of the students and the general public. An Appreciation Certificate for Participation was awarded to all the students. Refreshments, Water and Emergency medical aide were organised in the venue on behalf of BAPASI.
43rd Chennai Book Fair organized by The Booksellers’ & Publishers’ Association of South India (BAPASI) is duly to be inaugurated on the 09th January 2020. The Book fair starting from 09th January 2020 to 21st January 2020 (13 days) stays open with its functioning time between 3:00 pm and 9:00 am on weekdays and from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm on holidays.
