Students from CGC Landran plant 1,000 saplings in Tree Plantation Drive
The Department of Student Welfare (DSW), CGC Landran, organized a tree plantation drive in which, 500 students and faculty members from the institution planted 1,000 saplings across the villages of Saidpur, Swara, Kailon, Landran, and Chappar Chiri, in Mohali district. This initiative was in line with ongoing efforts by the state government and IKGPTU to enhance the green cover throughout Punjab. Understanding the crucial role of trees in combating climate change, regulating rainfall, conserving soil, and mitigating groundwater depletion, this drive underscores the impact of collective action in aiding environmental conservation. It not only helps contribute to the green cover in the state but also strengthens the CGCians’ understanding of the importance of trees in our ecosystem. “These saplings symbolize our hopes for a greener tomorrow and a healthier environment for future generations. This activity teaches our students environmental stewardship and the importance of preserving natural resources and Mother Nature,” said Ms. Gagandeep Kaur Bhullar, Dean of Student Welfare, CGC Landran. The tree plantation drive which spanned over four days, saw enthusiastic participation by all the participants who displayed unmatched dedication and responsibility towards this cause. Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC Landran and Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Landran said, “We appreciate our students and faculty members for this wonderful initiative. This tree plantation drive underscores the dedication of our students and faculty in working towards environmental preservation and creating a greener more sustainable future. It also is in alignment with our continuous efforts over the years, to contribute to the social and environmental well-being of our communities and the region,” they added.
