Mumbai: Students from Vedanta College of Management and Information Technology (VCMIT) will now get opportunities for employment in Vedanta group companies and be a part of Vedanta family, Mr Anil Agarwal, Chairman, Vedanta Resources Limited said recently during the Foundation Day ceremony of the college at Vitthalwadi, Mumbai.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Anil Agarwal, Executive Chairman, Vedanta Resources Limited said, “We want to encourage young students from smaller towns and cities. The students of VCMIT have the potential to join the mailstream and be gainfully employed. At Vedanta, there will be opportunities open for employment for VCMIT students.

VCMIT thrives to be the leader in transforming lives by virtues of innovation, persistence and compassion in the field of education. The institute inspires, prepares, and empowers students to triumph in this competitive world. The educational institute also focusses to achieve inclusive growth by providing support through focused programs with high potential for social development. The ethos of VCMIT echoes the thoughts of Vedanta Limited which prioritises to impart skill sets to under privileged sections of the society so that can be gainfully employed and join the mainstream. The Foundation incorporates tested delivery models across its planned interventions to engage the targeted population with the support of its nationwide team of committed and dedicated workforce which fuels the process of the planned development impact.

It is critical to provide skill sets to the youth so that they could realise their potential and be job ready. The wide range of training programmes imparted though the College ensures that the youth are not only trained to be employed but can also become entrepreneurs. As an entrepreneur, they can then also create jobs in the economy.

Further, Vedanta Limited organises job fairs under the aegis of Vedanta Foundation. In fact, it is among the few foundations to also hold job fair for jail inmates. Over 30,000 unemployed youth have managed to get jobs through our placement drives held in centers across states. Companies like Mc Donald’s, Eureka Forbes, Pantaloons Retail, Cinemax, CCD and many others have participated in this drive.

Besides education, Vedanta Foundation also works in several other areas to strengthen the social fabric of the country – women empowerment, child welfare, mass marriages and many more.
