‘Students Induction Programme – Deeksharambh’ at Dept. of Chemistry

 

Aligarh : The Department of Chemistry at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organized a ‘Students Induction Programme–Deeksharambh’ to welcome newly admitted undergraduate students.This program was designed to familiarize students with the university’s culture and support systems as they begin their academic journey.

In her welcoming address, Prof. Zeba N Siddiqui, Chairperson of the Department of Chemistry, congratulated the new students on joining a dedicated academic community. She emphasized the importance of personal growth, mentorship, and social integration to equip students for future challenges.

Prof. Rafiuddin, Dean of Student Welfare (DSW), encouraged students to take advantage of the university’s diverse resources and facilities. He stressed the importance of building essential skills and upholding strong moral values.

Prof. Sartaj Tabassum, Dean of the Faculty of Science, motivated students to strive for excellence through hard work, perseverance, and self-discipline. AMU Proctor, Prof. Wasim Ali, urged students to foster cordial relationships and represent AMU positively, reminding them of the serious impact of ragging on their academic futures.

Prof. Asia Sultana, AMU’s Anti-Discrimination Officer, emphasized the university’s commitment to a discrimination-free campus, urging students to stand against biases based on colour, caste, religion, or gender. Retired Prof. Suhail Sabir introduced students to the Sir Syed Global Scholar Award (SSGA) and other international fellowship opportunities to further their studies globally.

Dr. Anamika Gupta, who led the program, opened the session with a tribute to Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, highlighting his mission to promote modern education.

Dr. Muzamil Mushtaq, Assistant Training and Placement Officer, encouraged students to create purposeful career plans. Dr. Arifa Shaheen provided an overview of the Four-Year Undergraduate Program (FYUP), highlighting its flexible entry and exit options, while Dr. Md. Palashuddin extended a vote of thanks.
