Students of BML Munjal University pledge support to Government of Haryana for food distribution during Covid-19

Gurugram: Alum and Himanshu Jalan, a second year B.Tech student of BML Munjal University (BMU), a Hero Group initiative, in association with Raman Kant Munjal Foundation, have pledged their support to the local/district authorities of Gurugram to fight against COVID 19, through Careti.org. Careti.org helps in managing the process of food distribution online to ensure mobilisation of food on a large scale to those in need during the time of lockdown. The online initiative was launched on March 27, 2020, and till date, the platform has helped more than 125,000 people in Gurugram and aims to reach out to 1,000,000 people by the end of April 2020.

The idea behind Careti.org is to gather information from all stakeholders involved in the disbursement of food, and ensure that the supply matches the demand by providing accurate information to the Gurugram Administration. By helping bridge the gap between knowledge and resources, the impact creation can be magnified immensely, and that too, in an orderly manner.

Speaking on the success of this initiative, Dr. Manoj K Arora, Vice Chancellor, BML Munjal University said, “We at BMU have a deep commitment towards the society. We are proud of our students and alumni who are leading this effort. Each one of us realizes the gravity of being deprived of basic amenities such as food in the time of a crisis of such magnitude, something that no human being on this planet should ever go through. We are thrilled that our students and alumni are generously stepping up to help the community get past this difficult time, thus keeping up with the ethos of BML Munjal University.”

The University also recently announced that it has offered its 2,000-bed hostel to be utilised as an isolation and treatment facility as per the regulations laid down by the health authorities/district administration.
