Mr. Hammad and Md Shad Ali, both pursuing MA degrees in German, are scheduled to depart for Germany to commence their summer courses in July 2024. Valued at 2,559 Euros, the scholarship covers their airfare and tuition fees for the month-long program. Mr. Hammad will be attending the course at the Technical University of Applied Sciences, Wildau in Berlin, while Mr. Shad Ali will be participating at Leibniz University, Hannover. This marks the first instance of AMU hosting the DAAD scholarship test on campus.
In recent months, as part of the scholarship selection process, the German section of the department collaborated with the DAAD office in Delhi to organize a qualifying test. Dr. Jan Helge Weidemann, a DAAD Lecturer from Bremen, Germany, oversaw the examination at the department. Five students from the German section successfully passed the eligibility test for the DAAD scholarship, showcasing proficiency at the B1 level in the language.
Professor Muhammad Azhar, Chairman of the Department and Dean of the Faculty of International Studies, expressed his congratulations, stating, “This achievement underscores the caliber of education imparted by our faculty members. With the growing demand for foreign languages, I am confident that securing this scholarship will serve as a significant milestone in promoting foreign language studies in our region.”
Mr. Syed Salman Abbas, Assistant Professor of the German section, commended the students, remarking, “This marks the first time in our department’s history that students have been honored with such a prestigious scholarship as part of their ongoing coursework. We extend our gratitude to the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for their special attention to our students.”
