Fashion Design students of World University of Design (WUD) walked the ramp for Poshan Fashion Show organised by SHARP NGO as part of National Conference on Nutrition – “Poshan Panchayat 2022” on Saturday, September 24th, 2022 at Vivanta by Taj, Surajkund, Delhi. The conference was inaugurated by Ms A Dhanalakshmi, Joint Secretary to Govt of India.

In lines with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG #2) to zero hunger, that aims to end all forms of malnutrition by 2030, the conference celebrated Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyan through a variety of events like Poshan Chaupal, Poshan Mela, Poshan Dangal and Poshan Samman. With the Poshan Fashion Show by students of WUD, an attempt was made to create more public interest and to educate attendees more about the various themes in the ambit of nutrition. Every 3rd child in India is malnourished, and every 2nd tribal child suffers from malnutrition, making the issue one of the gravest.

Amidst the presence of delegates all across the country which included Nutritionists, LifeStyle Coaches, Doctors, Professionals, Scholars, CSR members, Poshan Panchayat 2022 discussed and dug out creative solutions to tackle malnutrition in India.

While the students of World University of Design were extremely charged up to showcase their talent around the theme of Poshan Panchayat, they also showed awareness about the responsibility levied on their young shoulders. Ushering them into this show for cause, Vice Chancellor Dr. Sanjay Gupta said, “While we waste a hundred plates of food at events, the reality is that there are so many families struggling to manage a single meal in a day! I am thankful that this opportunity has come our way to not just be part of this noble initiative taken up by SHARP NGO but also for our students to see beyond the world of privilege, to value what they have and respect others for their struggles.”

In March 2018 Prime Minister launched Poshan Abhiyan as the government’s flagship programme to improve nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers for holistic nutrition. To create awareness about nutrition, September month has been officially declared as the month of nutrition i.e Poshan Maah.
