Students were told about the development of pharmacy during the Renaissance

A public lecture on the topic “Development of pharmacy in the Renaissance” was delivered to students of the 8th and 11th grades of the Derzhavin Lyceum by associate professors of the Department of Pharmacology, Organization and Economics of Pharmacy Yunash Viktoria Dmitrievna, curator of the Museum of Pharmacy of PetrSU, and Varganova Daria Vladimirovna, head of the specialty training “Pharmacy”.
In Derzhavin Lyceum from April 19 to April 24, 2021, an interregional seminar “Updating the cultural-creative model in the conditions of the FSES of basic and secondary general education: Immersion in the era” was held. The seminar was held within the framework of the implementation of the general cultural metaproject “Culture Texts in the Life of Teachers and Pupils: Dialogues with Time”. The idea of ​​the seminar was the organization of a creative event for the development of cultural values ​​and traditions of the Renaissance.

Associate professors of the Department of Pharmacology, Organization and Economics of Pharmacy Yunash Viktoria Dmitrievna, curator of the Museum of Pharmacy of PetrSU, and Varganova Daria Vladimirovna, head of training in the specialty “Pharmacy” read a public lecture on the topic “Development of Pharmacy in the Renaissance” to the students of the Derzhavin Lyceum.

In their lecture, the teachers of the department highlighted the main features of the Renaissance, talked about the formation of medicine and pharmacy of the Renaissance, famous scientists and doctors of that time, about the appearance of the first pharmacies in Europe. During the lecture, students were given the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the exhibits of the Museum of Pharmacy, such as the USSR Pharmacopoeia, 1968 edition, glass bars for storing drug substances, hand-held pharmacy scales and a mortar, the PetrSU herbarium and an old cork mill. Students of the Derzhavin Lyceum asked questions about dosage forms that existed during the Renaissance, about the possibilities and potential of medicinal plants.
