Tiruchirappalli: Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli organized the Valedictory function for its first batch of the Executive Programme in Leadership and Change Management (EPLCM) on 24th October. The programme was designed to equip working professionals with leadership competencies that can emerge as a cutting edge tool to steer change management in an organizational environment. The programme was inaugurated on 17th January, 2021.
The valedictory function started with the lighting of the lamp, followed by a presentation of the batch report by the Programme Director (EPLCM Batch-1), Prof. Abhishek Totawar. The first batch of EPLCM consisted of 67 participants with an average work experience of 14 years. The participants came from diverse backgrounds, industries, work experience, age, gender, and geographies. Prof. Totawar elaborated on the three-part structure of the programme, how it was designed and delivered to achieve the programme objective – to understand and appreciate the nuances of leadership and to manage organizational change. Part one was about understanding the self and the leader – aimed at understanding oneself and how one evolves as a leader. Part two – leadership and organizational change – was about understanding the psychology of change and the role of a leader therein. The final part – was the capstone module with various workshops on stress management, design thinking, ethics, and invited talks. Prof. Abhishek Totawar congratulated the 63 participants who completed the programme and appreciated them for managing the course alongside their work while weathering the challenges brought on by the pandemic. He virtually handed over the Certificate of Completion to the participants.
This was followed by an address by the Chairperson of Executive Education and Consulting, Prof. Prashant Gupta. He motivated the students by reminding them that each end brings a new beginning. Similarly, this valedictory marks the beginning of their journey – of a participant – as an alumnus of IIM Trichy. He congratulated the batch on their successful completion of the programme and invited them to visit the campus when the pandemic conditions improved.
The Director, Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh, addressed the graduating batch and mentioned that they now have an additional layer of knowledge and wisdom, thanks to the course, and a responsibility to apply the learnings in their career to the best of their abilities. He said that the struggle to implement the theoretical understandings in practice will truly help them blossom. He urged them to make the best use of their time. He told the participants that there isn’t a best model of leadership; rather, a good leader is one who is able to apply the right form of leadership skill at the right time, depending on the context. He urged the participants to do the same and congratulated them for completing the course.
This was followed by the announcement of the Merit Award winners – the first position was bagged by Meera Menon, the second by Ashok Kumar Vaishnav, and the third by Mridula Saripalli.
