SVKM’s NMIMS Balwant Sheth School of Architecture Invites Applications for B. Arch.

Mumbai: SVKM’s NMIMS Balwant Sheth School of Architecture (BSSA), a leading educational institute with a stellar academic reputation, opens admissions for its Bachelor in Architecture program in Mumbai. Approved by the Council of Architecture, the five-year program provides students with a holistic education in art, history, technology, architectural design, and construction process. The carefully designed curriculum combines academics with extensive fieldwork, to provide students with a hands-on approach, and is supported by a dedicated placement cell.

 

Applicants must have passed grade 12th overall and in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as well. In addition, they must also apply with a specially designed aptitude test in architecture, such as NATA or JEE Paper-II Aptitude test. Prof. Aparna Surve, Dean, NMIMS, BSSA, further added, “An architect must unite the construction process with artistic visualization, while also keeping the design practical and user-friendly. In the present technological era, professionals are also required to possess technical expertise in computer modeling and data-driven design. Our transdisciplinary curriculum is, therefore, designed to develop and nurture our students’ creative potential, while equipping them with a composite skillset and a pragmatic approach.”

 

With an emphasis on industry experience, the curriculum includes intensive internship and onsite fieldwork with domestic and international study visits. Regular interactions with renowned industry heads, design professionals, policy planners, project planners, architects, and engineers not only provide students with a well-rounded exposure but also helps them develop a global view of this evolving field. The school has state-of-the-art infrastructure with well-curated IT labs, workshops for model making, and a well-equipped studio for design work. The highly reputed faculty includes urban planners, art historians, landscape architects, product designers, sociologists, and civil engineers. Students are provided with individual laptops with licensed software. The school also bears all printing costs, from A4 to A0 size.

 

Other than designing residential and commercial buildings, architects are also involved in urban development, town planning, and civil construction.
