Swachhata Pakhwada-related programmes continue at AMU
ALIGARH : The Swachhata Pakhwada-related programmes continued at the Aligarh Muslim University with different departments, schools and halls of residence organizing various programmes and events to mark the national campaign.
At the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, the Dean, Prof Akram Ahmad Khan and other senior professors highlighted the importance and need for maintaining a high degree of cleanliness in life. They urged the faculty members, students and non-teaching staff to spread awareness regarding cleanliness and hygiene in their homes and localities.
The V.M. Hall of residence for boys organized a Swachhata-related interactive awareness session under the “Swachhata hi Sewa” campaign with the Provost, Prof Naushad Ali PM, wardens and students participating in the awareness programme.
Prof Ali highlighted the significance of cleanliness in maintaining a healthy and sustainable environment and urged the students to help in waste management, hygiene maintenance and plastic pollution control on the hall premises.
He also addressed the Safai Mitra community to make them aware of the importance of regular sanitation and safety practices and the critical role Safai Mitras play in maintaining cleanliness in public spaces.
The General Warden, Dr Firdous Ahmad highlighted the need for extended support, safety measures and respect for sanitation workers, and urged them to maintain personal hygiene, and vaccination and go for regular health check-ups due to their exposure to infections.
The Warden Incharge, Dr Abdul Azeez NP expressed gratitude to the Safai Mitras for their tireless work and affirmed commitment to improving their working conditions and public awareness of their crucial role in maintaining public hygiene.
At AMU City Girls High School, the officiating Principal, Mr. Md Javed Akhtar shed light on the importance of the Swachhata drive and highlighted the need for maintaining “Swabhav Swachhata and Sanskar Swachhata” which is the truest way to make society clean and healthy in real sense. He urged the students to keep their school uniforms, nails, shoes and their surroundings clean.
Further, a Tableaux on the importance of compulsive hygiene and how to clean the bathroom was presented by Mrs. Farzana Nazeer and her team of IX-B students. Dr. Samia Hamid threw light on ‘Hygiene and its importance in daily life’.
Ms. Tehmina Ashraf spoke on ‘How we can progress and be successful in our lives by keeping healthy’ and the science teachers conducted a workshop on ‘Health and Hygiene’.
A special assembly was conducted by Red House with students presenting poems on the importance of cleanliness and later students participated in a campus cleaning drive.
Mr. Md Javed Akhtar felicitated Safai Mitra Mr. Umesh and Mrs. Rajkumari in recognition of their excellent services to the public health on the school campus.
Dr Ziauddin Ahmad Dental College conducted several activities under the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign over the last fortnight.
Prof R.K. Tewari, Principal, said that the campaign was aimed at promoting cleanliness, environmental consciousness and community engagement.
The Swachhata campaign included the parking area and rooftop cleaning, department-wise cleaning, Swachhata health talk, Swachhata Seminar on the significance of cleanliness in educational institutions and its role in promoting health and general well-being and organization of a Dental Swachhata Camp in collaboration with the Medical Attendance Scheme offering dental checkups and creating awareness about dental hygiene among students, staff and common people.
