Swachhta Pakhwada observed at AMU

ALIGARH : Keeping with the celebration of Swachhta Pakhwada at the Aligarh Muslim University, several departments of studies and schools organized programmes to mark the national level mass drive, urging people to observe a high degree of cleanliness and hygiene in their homes and vicinity.

The Department of Tashreeh-wa-Munafeul Aza, A.K. Tibbiya College, launched a plantation drive aimed at promoting forestation to mitigate global warming and reduce carbon footprint. Numerous medicinal and ornamental saplings were planted on the college campus.

Dr. Farooq Ahmad Dar, Chairman of the department, emphasized the vital role of forests in sustaining life on our planet. He urged the faculty members and students to take responsibility for environmental conservation and promoting ecological well-being.

Prof. Ubaidullah, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Prof. B.D. Khan, Principal, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, Dr. Abdur Rauf, Chairman, Department of Ilmul Advia, along with other teachers planted saplings. Dr. Aisha Aijaz conducted the programme.

At the Department of Library and Information Science, a cleanliness drive was observed under the leadership of the Chairman, Prof M. Masoom Raza, which was followed by a plantation drive.

Prof. Raza said that the cleanliness is a part and parcel of one’s life and it is not something observed for a period of time. It has to be both within and outside of human life and a holistic approach is needed to achieve a complete environmental cleaning.

Dr. Muzamil Mushtaq coordinated the programme.

A series of activities were organized at the STS School to promote cleanliness and hygiene and create awareness among students in this regard. A hand wash demonstration was conducted for the primary section students emphasizing the need for regular hand washing.

The students made posters and wrote slogans, conveying the message of cleanliness and hygiene, and the posters were displayed around the school premises to spread awareness about cleanliness. The students also participated in cleaning drive on the school premises.

Mr. Faisal Nafis, Principal, STS School stressed the significance of cleanliness in preventing diseases and fostering a healthy lifestyle.
