SWD, ALIMCO provide assistive devices to Specially abled persons at Bhaderwah

 

DODA : District Social Welfare Department, in collaboration with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), a Public Sector Enterprise under the control of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, today organised a camp for distribution of free aids and appliances among Specially abled beneficiaries here at Community Hall Bhaderwah .

Deputy Commissioner Doda Vikas Sharma was the Chief Guest on the occasion, who handed over the assistive appliances to the identified beneficiaries.

As many as 131 beneficiaries were provided assistive aid under ADIP scheme of Govt of India, which includes wheelchairs, CP Chair, hearing Aid, Smart cane, Clippers, MSEID kit, Elbow Crutches, Walking sticks, Artificial Limbs etc free of cost.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Doda said that the main objective of the scheme is to assist the needy specially abled persons by providing durable, sophisticated and scientifically manufactured, modern standard aids and appliances for their physical, social and psychological rehabilitation by reducing the effects of disabilities and at the same time enhance their economic potential.

He also appealed to the general public to avail the benefits of all the individual benefit schemes. He asked the Social Welfare department to give wide publicity to its schemes in coordination with PRIs and public to encourage needy and deserving persons to come forward to avail benefits of the same.

Among others present during the program were ADC Bhaderwah, District Social Welfare officer, District and Tehsil Presidents of Handicaped Association, Tehsil Social Welfare officer, besides other concerned officials.
