SWD Kathua distributes assistive devices among specially abled persons; Awareness on Women centric schemes held by MSK

 

KATHUA : District Social Welfare Department, in collaboration with Artificial Limb Manufacturing Corporation (ALIMCO) today distributed assistive devices among specially abled persons in Sub District Hospital, Hiranagar.

The programme was organised under ADIP (Assistance to Disabled persons for purchasing/ fitting of aids/ appliances), a scheme of the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

Pertinently, the assistive devices were provided to the beneficiaries after an Assessment camp conducted earlier in the month of March, 2021. In all 36 eligible beneficiaries were identified for different assistive devices to be provided i.e. wheelchairs, hearing aid kits, tricycles, crutches, artificial limbs etc.

District Social Welfare Officer, Abdul Raheem, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, Hiranagar and representatives from ALIMCO were also present in the camp.

Meanwhile, District Level Centre for Women, Mahila Shakti Kendra, conducted awareness programmes on Women centric Schemes at ward no 19, Kathua and In Nagri Parole.

The awareness programmes were organised in collaboration with District Employment and Counselling Centre and NGO Women Era Development.

The programme was held under the overall guidance of District Social Welfare Officer Abdul Raheem.

On the occasion, Women Welfare Officer Itika Mahajan and District Coordinators (MSK) explained to the local women folk about various Women centric schemes I.e Tejaswani Scheme and explained to them the process for starting their mini business enterprises by availing the scheme.

In addition to this, various other Women Centric Schemes were explained by the staff.

Registration of ladies for 3 month tailoring and Beautician courses under Mission India was also done.

Prominent residents of Ward No 19, Shiva Nagar Rahul dev, Anganwadi Worker, Kusum Salaria president NGO(Women Era Development) were also present at the programmes.
