Symposium on Exploring Biology through Macromolecules inaugurated at AMU

Aligarh: A two day National Symposium cum Workshop on “Exploring Biology through Macromolecules” organized was inaugurated on Wednesday at Aligarh Muslim University.

Organised by Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Unit, the workshop is sponsored by DBT and was graced by Prof YD Sharma (Deptt of Biotechnology, AIIMS) as Chief Guest.

In his inaugural address, Prof Sharma said, “The Science of today is the technology of tomorrow and this symposium cum workshop aims to provide basic knowledge about the technology being used in modern biology to explore more about cell dynamics”.

Prof Sharma’s subject of research is malaria parasite and he emphasized on mechanism to protect from this parasite.

In his Presidential address the Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor lauded the efforts of IBT for organizing the workshop. “We have among us the top technology persons and academicians from across the country attending the function today, and they will enlighten all of us with valuable findings,” he said.

Prof Qayyum Husain (Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences) in his address explained that the event is aimed to provide a scientific platform to all the participants to interact with subject specialists and hands on training on new bioinformatics tools in the area of biological sciences.

In his welcome address Convener of the Conference Prof Asad U Khan expressed that the symposium will explore the biology through macromolecules and new methodologies that can be applied to the research carried out in the areas related to biological sciences.

A souvenir was also released on the occasion while the vote of thanks was proposed by organizing Secretary Prof Waseem A Siddiqui.
