Symposium on ‘Techno-Managerial Advances in Healthcare Sector’
Aligarh: Resource persons discussed the use of Information Technology (IT) tools designed to boost hospital administrative productivity and the recent developments in emerging technologies for healthcare in the day-long symposium on ‘Techno-Managerial Advances in Healthcare Sector’ held recently at the Frank and Debbie Islam Management Complex, Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Management Studies and Research (FMSR), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
“The growth of the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Blockchain technologies is gaining pace in all sectors and notably in healthcare. These advancements are giving patients access to improved personalised healthcare”, said Dr Kousar Shah (Senior Vice-President, Hospital Operations, Max Healthcare).
He discussed the role of leadership in the healthcare sector and explained the growth of Indian technology companies.
Later in a technical session, Dr Kousar delivered a talk on ‘Unlock the Leader within to be future Leader in Healthcare’ and stressed that the industry seeks leaders with integrity and openness to learning.
Sameer Poddar (Senior Vice-President and Head- Domestic Sales, Max Healthcare) pointed out: “The future of healthcare lies in working hand-in-hand with technology and healthcare workers have to embrace emerging healthcare technologies in order to stay relevant in the coming years”.
He discussed how to work as a salesperson in the healthcare sector and deliberated on ‘Sales Management in Healthcare and the role of CRM in its Future Evolution’ in a technical session.
Mohan Menon (Senior Vice-President and Head-Marketing and Digital Max Healthcare) talked about uniqueness of sales in the healthcare sector and later in one of the technical sessions, delivered a talk on ‘Digital Trends in Healthcare Marketing’ highlighting marketing tactics, reputation management, shifts in consumer behaviour and digital trends in healthcare.
Dr Kousar Shah, Sameer Poddar and Mohan Menon also met the AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor and discussed training of MBA (Hospital Administration) students.
Attending the programme as the Chief Guest, Prof Shahid Ali Siddiqui (Former Principal, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College-JNMC, AMU) called for more programmes on the use of newer technologies for producing future leaders.
In the welcome address, Prof Ayesha Farooq (Officiating Dean, FMSR) deliberated the role of technology and artificial intelligence in redefining and redesigning healthcare.
Prof Jamal Ahmad Farooquie (Chairman, Department of Business Administration) discussed healthcare sector in the perspectives of education, patient care and treatment and Industry and gave an overview of recent technical advancements.
Madeeha Ahmed extended the vote of thanks, while Sabiha Akil conducted the inaugural session.
Dr Fatima Mohtashim gave the concluding remarks.
