Talk delivered on Breakup Fusion Dynamics at ICNPA

ALIGARH  : Prof. B. P. Singh, former Chairman, Department of Physics, Aligarh Muslim University, delivered a talk at an International Conference on “Nuclear Physics and its Applications” (ICNPA-2024), held at the Department of Physics and Astrophysics, University of Delhi.

In his talk, “Exploring the Intricacies of Breakup Fusion Dynamics in Low-Energy and Pseudo Transparency in the Fermi Energy Region of Heavy Ion Collisions,” Prof. Singh explained the phenomenon of breakup fusion (BUF), where the projectile nucleus fragments within the target’s field enhance fusion, a process that challenges traditional nuclear models. He also highlighted using gamma-ray spectroscopy techniques for measuring excitation functions and analysing spin distributions.

He also discussed pseudo transparency at higher energies within the Fermi energy region, where nuclei display complex behaviours such as multi-fragmentation and collective flow. He emphasized integrating breakup processes into theoretical models to ensure accurate predictions, particularly for super heavy element synthesis.

Prof. Singh was also a member of the national organizing committee of the conference.
