Tamilnadu: Siddha, Unani Medicine department starts implementing intensive immunity strengthening measures

New Delhi: The Traditional Siddha and Unani Medicine department of Tamilnadu has started implementing intensive immunity strengthening measures against the background of Covid 19 pandemic.

The department is popularizing the distribution of herbal drinks containing immune building herbs in various parts of the state. The health drink is expected to increase the general health of people also, according to Dr Kamaraj, Senior Sidha Medical Officer, Trichy.

The Siddha department has a tie up with the school education department for distributing the health drink in schools. The powder for preparing the drink is also being made available to anganwadis and old age homes under the social welfare department.

The distribution of the health drink – popularly known as nilavembu – has also been intensified in the three corporations of Chennai, Madurai and Coimbatore where total lock down is in force.

Dr Kamaraj also said that the distribution of nilavembu powder is proceeding at a brisk pace in the Delta districts of Trichy Karur Ariyalur and Perambalur.
